A world-class scholar who presented a new model in the field of analysis and design of large structures including high-rise buildings and developed structural health care (SHC), a concept of safety monitoring and maintenance. This concept served as the basis for the enforcement of the Special Act on Disaster Management of High-rise and Underground-linked Complexes in 2012, and has recently been applied to securing construction safety of 500m or more in Korea, and has contributed greatly to the architectural engineering industry.
