| The
Award was established by Dupont Korea as part of commemoration
of Dupont's 200th anniversary. The award is to recognize
scientists with outstanding contributions in the fields
of chemistry and chemical engineering, materials science
and engineering, or biochemistry and life science. Through
the award program Dupont intends to raise its image as
a science company and contribute to the industrial development
in Korea as a long-term business partner.
Dupont entrusted KAST with the screening process for
the award to ensure authority and strict fairness. The
KAST referees conducted two-stage screening process
and finally selected Prof. Hong as the award's first
winner in recognition of his outstanding research for
developing original technologies related to electronic
communication materials and his significant contributions
to the formation of venture companies in the field.
Prof. Hong will receive a cash prize of 20 million won
along with a certificate.
